Course Planning Guide 2025-2026
Each student will have an individual course schedule which must operate within the constraints of facilities, staffing, graduation requirements and individual choice. Through the course selection process, students will provide the school with their preferred courses (primary selections) as well as alternate course selections (alternates) should a possible conflicts or insufficient space prevent a student from getting one or more of their preferred choices. The school will do everything possible to provide students with their preferred courses, but we recognize that some students may not get all of their top choices.
It is essential that students select their courses carefully. The determination of the elective courses to be offered in any given year is based almost entirely on student requests. Once the timetable is created, it is extremely difficult or, in some cases impossible, to make course changes.
While students will have opportunities to receive guidance from counselors and/or the career advisor in determining which courses best suit individual needs, selecting courses for a program of study is the responsibility of the student and the parent.
All Students entering Grades 10, 11 and 12 should check course requirements for post-secondary programs. Information is available in the Career Center and on various websites.
SELECT NEXT YEAR’S COURSES (Available February)
Parents work with their children online to select next year course requests. Students will select course requests in MyEd BC, which will indicate how many courses are required and will provide all the options for selection. Once the course request input deadline has been reached, students will no longer be able to edit or select course requests.
