School Goals 2025-28
South Delta Secondary has identified two areas that the school will be working with students on developing and improving through the 2025-28 school years. The first is Social Citizenship – this is the ways in which we treat each other, interact with our community and advocate for positive change. The second is Resiliency – this is our ability to manage tough situations and bounce back from setbacks that occur in life. Increasing our capacity in both areas are goals that will develop important attributes to a successful citizen in the 21st century and will serve our students well at school and in their post-secondary endeavours.
Developing and implementing these goals will progress in three initial Phases:
Phase 1 (Jan-Mar 2025) – A School Goals working committee will be formed comprising of students, teachers and administration to take the lead on School Goals work.
Phase 2 (Apr-Oct 2025) – The School Goals committee will begin to refine what the specific goals of the committee will be in trying to increase capacity for Social Citizenship and Resiliency. Specifically, the committee will determine how to measure a baseline for student’s capacity for Social Citizenship and Resiliency, plan out activities, experiences and lessons to help grow student’s capacity in these areas, and engage with staff and the parent/caregiver community on school goals and plans to pursue them.
Phase 3 (Oct. 2025 – June 2026) – The School Goals committee will implement a series of activities, experiences and lessons designed to improve Social Citizenship and Resiliency. The committee will gather data to determine if there has been an increase in capacity for Social Citizenship and Resiliency, and will continue to refine their efforts to maximize effect.
Near the end of the 2025-26 school year, the School Goals committee will review all their efforts and their impacts before determining next steps for the 2026-27 school year.
