Please note this evening session (February 12th) for Course Planning for Parents has been cancelled due to weather conditions. Course Planning Parent Information Night is rescheduled for Tuesday, February 19th at 7pm
During the coming weeks, we will ask students to choose the courses that they will take next school year (2019-20). These are important decisions, as student course selections determine the courses and the number of sections that will make up the next year’s school timetable.
Our counsellors will soon be making presentations to help our students select courses and plan for next year while keeping an eye towards post-secondary options. We strongly believe that the selection of next year’s courses should involve the counsellor, the student, and the parents. With this in mind, counsellors will be leading a Parent Information Evening on Tuesday, February 12th for parents of students currently in Grades 8, 9, 10 and 11.
A special Course Planning Information Evening for parents of students who are entering grade 8 in September 2019 will be held on Thursday, February 21st.
All presentations will begin at 7pm and counsellors will speak to course options, graduation program requirements, career program opportunities, transition issues, and answer your questions related to course selection.
It is critical that students make informed choices during this period. Once the timetable is built, with limitations due to space, it is not guaranteed that a student will be able to make changes to their schedule in the Fall. We count on our students, with the help of their families, to choose the courses that they truly want to take and will not change their minds about over the summer. Course selections can be made on Student or Parent Connect but must be confirmed by a parent on Parent Connect. The course selection module will be open from February 4th – February 28th.
